The Maxim's Restaurant on Carmel Beach in Haifa opened in 1965 as a joint initiative of two families – one Jewish and one Arab. The Jewish founders, Shabtai and Miri (Mireille) Tiar, hailed from Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. Their Arab partners were the Matar family, Christians from Haifa, including George and Tony Matar, who is considered the restaurant's prominent manager.
Since its opening, Maxim's has become a symbol of the city's social life, a regular meeting place for families, tourists, and residents of all walks of life.
Ресторан Максим" на пляже Кармель в Хайфе открылся в 1965 году по совместной инициативе двух семей – еврейской и арабской. Еврейские основатели, Шабтай и Мири (Мирей) Тиар, родом из Туниса, столицы Туниса. Их арабские партнёры – семья Матар, христиане из Хайфы, включая Джорджа и Тони Матар, который считается видным управляющим заведения.
С момента своего открытия «Максим» стал одним из символов общественной жизни города, постоянным местом встречи семей, туристов и жителей всех слоёв общества.

Еда была восхитительной.
Было очень много народу, что немного повлияло на обслуживание.
Но в целом всё было хорошо.
Доступно и чисто.
The food was delicious.
It was very crowded, which affected the service a little.
But overall, everything was fine.
Accessible and clean.

Мы живём неподалёку и бывали здесь много раз. Честно говоря, всё зависит от того, какой день выпадет и в час пик вы приедете или нет. В большинстве случаев здесь очень вкусно, а обслуживание отличное. Однозначно не рекомендую приходить в час пик — это совсем другие впечатления.
We live nearby and have been here many times. Honestly, it all depends on the day and whether you come during rush hour. Most of the time, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. I definitely don't recommend coming during rush hour—it's a completely different experience.
אנחנו גרים קרוב אז היינו פה הרבה פעמים. בכנות זה ענין של על איזה יום נפלת והאם ביקרת בשעות העומס או לא. רוב הפעמים, טעים מאד והשרות סבבה. בהחלט מומלץ לא להגיע בשעות העומס, חוויה אחרת לגמרי.

Место, которое уважает себя и своих клиентов.
Ресторан был отремонтирован, включая организованную парковку, чтобы создать приятную атмосферу для посетителей. Очень вкусные блюда, чувствуется свежесть салатов и мяса. Все ингредиенты хорошего качества. В Хайфе нет ни одного восточного ресторана такого стиля и уровня, как в «Максиме». Настоятельно рекомендую!!!

The restaurant has been renovated, including organized parking, to create a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. The dishes are delicious, and the salads and meat are fresh. All the ingredients are of high quality. There's no other Middle Eastern restaurant in Haifa that offers the same style and level as Maxim's. I highly recommend it!

לטחרונה עבר שיפוץ כולל חניה מסודרת רק שיהיה אווירה נעימה ללקוחות. מנות מאוד טעימות מרגישים שהסלטים טריים והבשרים טריים. כל חומרי הגלם מאיכות טובה. אין בחיפה מסעדה מזרחית בסגנון כזה עם רמה שמקסים מציעה. ממליץ מאוד!!!

לטחרונה עבר שיפוץ כולל חניה מסודרת רק שיהיה אווירה נעימה ללקוחות. מנות מאוד טעימות מרגישים שהסלטים טריים והבשרים טריים. כל חומרי הגלם מאיכות טובה. אין בחיפה מסעדה מזרחית בסגנון כזה עם רמה שמקסים מציעה. ממליץ מאוד!!!

Ресторан в восточном стиле с богатой историей. Отличные салаты, хороший хумус, вкуснейшие мясные блюда. Вежливое обслуживание.
An oriental-style restaurant with a rich history. Excellent salads, delicious hummus, and delicious meat dishes. Friendly service.

Good restaurant in Haifa off of Rd , next to the beach. Great breakfast, accompanied with salads, hummus, tehina, falafel - awesome.
Had to order my coffee twice though...
Like the guy forgot. Oh well.

Excellent location, tasty food, uncaring service
We visited Maxim with a friend for breakfast in October 2025. The location is excellent - nice sea view, next to a park and promenade. We ordered a breakfast combo for two with shakshuka. The experience was mixed.
While the shakshuka and accompanying dips were delicious, several items listed as part of the combo never arrived. The waiter explained they were out of avocado and other items, and that the menu was incorrect and outdated. It sounded quite ridiculous.
Service started off quick but then went fell apart. We couldn't get a waiter to order more coffee or get the check. Empty plates sat on the table untouched for half an hour while we chatted after finishing the meal.
The most annoying part though was flies, which kept distracting our conversation. I eventually snapped three of them, and things got better. Not sure why it’s so hard to put up a few sticky fly catchers and keep the place fly-free.
Hopefully, the restaurant takes steps to improve, though the lack of competition nearby makes that less likely.

Я ужинал там в субботу вечером. Бронировать столик не пришлось, было довольно пусто.
Основные блюда были невкусными. Я заказал рыбу, которая воняла. Я попросил изменить, и мне принесли совершенно безвкусный и некачественный кебаб.
Баклажаны в тахини были превосходны. Я заплатил за них кучу денег, хотя и не ел их.

Maxims has remained a "Go to" place of ours for decades. Always dependable to find great fresh food from a full menu, attentive service, pleasant atmosphere, all the things needed to enjoy time out. I'm always happy to take visiting guests here too.
Tony is always such a gracious host. I recommend finishing your meal with their delicious Creme Bavaria!
